There are many volunteer positions available.  Some are leadership roles and some are as simple as a two hour shift.

BBQ Dinner

Volunteer duties may include helping with bus parking, assisting the caterer, serving food, and cleaning up.

Bus Captains and Co-Captains

The bus captain’s main job is to ensure that everyone that gets on the bus at the hotel, returns on the bus to the hotel. Additional responsibilities include: understanding the route, and garden stops and being able to assist the bus driver, if necessary. Ensure everyone gets their box lunch. Collect all box lunch trash. You are welcome to add some jokes or interesting facts/trivia along the way (this is NOT required).

Bus Coordinator(s)

Ensure that there are bus captain(s) for each bus. Meet with them prior to the convention and be sure they understand their responsibilities.

Bus Lunches Coordinator

Pickup box lunches at nearby deli and sort. Pack into appropriate coolers.

Registration Table Set Up

Set up convention bags, Hosta plants, t-Shirts, name badges and other information on the tables.

Check in attendees – give them name badge, convention bag, Hosta plant and T-shirt (if ordered).

Put all remaining items on the tables into the storage room.

Silent Auction Committee

Prior to the convention, collect and group items for silent auction. Prepare bidder forms. During Convention, deliver auction items to the hotel.

Leaf Show – Staging & Dismantling

Setup all supplies for registration desk, exhibit area, classification table, tabulation area and head table. At the end of show, dismantle everything.

Setup registration area. Register attendees. Reset room for leaf show.

Leaf Show – Classification

Print copies of AHS Show Classification list for various tables. Ensure appropriate space for classification areas. Check for incomplete tags and possible disqualifications.

Leaf Show – Placement

Move entries to appropriate locations in show room. Verify entries.

Assist judges – punch tags, staple ribbons, move entries as directed.
